A Prayer for Today: May 1, 2009

Almighty Father,

You are forever faithful and we rejoice that You are in our midst. We are grateful that we can call upon You in the most dire of circumstances and that You will hear our petitions. We are confident that nothing can ever separate us from the love of Christ. That brings such warmth and gratitude to our hearts, Lord.

Although we fail You and Your Word, we are promised that as we approach your throne with repentant hearts and spirits, that You are true to forgive and that Your love for us will remain solid.

I think of those who have never trusted You as their Lord and Savior. False religions and doctrines have confused so many. Satan has blinded people to the Truth. May we each realize the simplicity and beauty of the Gospel – God wants a personal relationship with each of His children. Acts 3:19 instructs us: “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord…” May each of us examine our hearts and repent of unconfessed sins. This Scripture assures us that no matter the depths of our sin; they will be blotted out, when we approach God with a truly repentant heart. And with that forgiveness, will come refreshing. Praises be to God.

“You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance” (Psalm 32:7). As we face trials and tribulations of so many variations, let us meditate on this Scripture. As threats of a flu pandemic envelope us, may we return to our place of safety – YOU are our hiding place. Protect each of us and our families from this world-wide threat. Bring Your healing touch to each body that is suffering and broken.

In Jesus’ Mighty Name, I pray. AMEN.
