Matching Grant for Leukemia Research

A generous CLL patients has donated $250,000 to advance research for a CLL vaccination at the UCSD. He is willing to match donations from other people. If you would like to suppor this program to advance our chances for a cure for this form of leukemia (CLL), please go to the website: http://www.slaythedragon.org/

Why Are Donations Needed Now?

The key to providing CLL patients a second chance at life without the worry of CLL is to have treatments that will either control or cure CLL in the clinic when that treatment is needed by the patient. Most patients either know of or knew someone who has lost his or her fight with CLL. With the potential of a curative solution near, isn’t it time to change the odds in your favor by donating to cure or control CLL?
Research to do exactly this is ongoing and needs funds right now to fine-tune the vaccine therapy in order to improve the response by the immune system to make killing CLL cells even more effective. The Blood Cancer Research Fund has specific strategies they want to pursue to make this happen, and they can’t do it without our help.
In June, 2008 the BCRF received a matching grant from an ACOR member of $250,000 for the purpose of accelerating BCRF’s vaccine therapy research for improved immune response results. If every ACOR member joined together in this effort and make a donation for just $10.00 a month, each month for the next twelve months, ACOR members could match that grant.

If ACOR members asked their families and friends to contribute to the Blood Cancer Research Fund on their behalf on occasions when gifts are exchanged as symbols of affection, this would also help reach that goal. All contributions are tax-deductible. Certainly this is a small price to pay to improve our best hope for a second chance at a life where we won’t have to fear the Dragon again.
