Praise You in This Storm

One of my favorite songs is Casting Crown's "Praise You in This Storm". On days when this leukemia battle rages and batters my body and soul, I read or sing these lyrics. Satan would like nothing better than for me to become discouraged and quit. He would delight in the fact if I allowed the reports and emotions of this world to trump the Word of God.

Although my life circumstances continue to "rain" down on me, I must continue to praise Him, to trust Him, and to believe. Some days, all that I can do is "to praise Him in this storm". And often times when this storm becomes most violent, I offer those praises through my tears. The lyrics in this song that remind me that God holds every tear I have cried in His hands, brings me great comfort.

I pray that the next time you are struggling with a problem, that you listen to this song. God will not forsake us. He never leaves a prayer unanswered but He will often answer a prayer in a way we did not expect or that we do not understand. Our help comes from the Lord - turn to Him, trust Him, and praise Him through every storm that batters your life.

Praise You In This Storm
Lyrics by Casting Crowns

I was sure by now
That You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say "Amen", and it's still raining

As the thunder rolls
I barely hear Your whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away

I'll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am

Every tear I've cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

I remember when
I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry
You raised me up again
My strength is almost gone
How can I carry on
If I can't find You

As the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away

I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
The Maker of Heaven and Earth
